Burgoyne Diller (1906–1965) was an American abstract painter. Many of his best-known works are characterized by orthogonal geometric forms that reflect his strong interest in the De Stijl movement. Diller’s abstract work has sometimes been termed “constructivist”. His work is in the collections of the Whitney, the Metropolitan Museum, the National Gallery and the Hirshhorn.

Is it awful that I sometimes confuse him for Russian, Wassily Kandinsky and that other guy, Piet Mondrian. Maybe it’s the use of colors? I like them though. Something about this De Stijl—Dutch for The Style—resonates. It isn’t natural but rather, it plays on the abstract and strong primary colors. Wonderful.
